This excellent spring exhibition in the Santa Giulia Museum is dedicated to Titian and sixteenth century painting in Venice and Brescia. The exhibition revolves around the great Venetian painter and his two major Brescian works: the polyptych, created for bishop Altobello Averoldi between 1520 and 1522 for the Santi Nazaro e Celso collegiate, and the three paintings – Allegories of Brescia – created many years later in the 1560s for the hall at the Loggia, before being destroyed in a fire in 1575. The Tosio Martinengo Pinacoteca is also reopening in conjunction with the exhibition, with its historic establishment finally opening in Piazza Moretto after closing its doors for nine years. At this gallery you will discover some extraordinary examples of the artistic culture of sixteenth century Brescia and Venice.
