A GLOBAL COMMUNICATOR The United States, the Middle East, China and Russia: an interview with Stefano Cecchi, businessman and marketing communication consultant Let’s start with the United States. I’ve read your autobiography, Play, where you describe how you met Donald Trump in person. What do you think of this new President? I have found him fascinating ever since the first time we travelled on Trump One together. He wasn’t President at the time, he was known for his large-scale property transactions and The Apprentice talent show. I have just received an invitation to his inauguration party in Washington DC. You see, I’m not interested in people’s private lives and I don’t waste my time on conspiracy theories: Trump is a super manager and he’ll be a good President. His aim is to create ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’ by attracting companies to the USA and his programme features plenty of incentives. Will you have a role in this project? The USA is looking for companies with ideas that are ready to invest. We are assessing proposals with the help of a dear friend who is an ambassador to the United Nations and we will present them in Washington DC. Tell us about your […]
Expo is drawing to a close: can we make a quick summing-up?It’s been a fantastic experience. It’s a way of changing your point of view of the world, beyond the aesthetic beauty of the pavilions, inside which each country has tried to show off its best features. I’ve seen lots of people intent on finding out how food can save mankind, from the first warehouse through to the Cirque du Soleil troop. The job of ambassador has a mission. What does this mean to Maria Grazie? In my life I have been an ambassador of many things. It means taking responsibility and taking the name of Italy around the world, with the sole aim of highlighting every aspect of it.Sustainability, environment and food production. Where do you start? With respect for nature: everything now is excessively adulterated. We have more food but quantity does not guarantee quality. We should choose the food that is as close as possible to what nature offers us. Some forms of cancer are unfortunately the result of what we eat. What legacy will Expo leave? It depends on what you want from or look for at Expo. If you go in to take a stroll around the world, you’ll be […]

Who is Black Cat? It could be me: it’s a black album due to its many soul and blues origins, but overall because it’s free like a cat when it comes to you only when it wants to be patted. The world premiere will be live in Verona. Why such a choice? Diversity. Because the Arena has perfect acoustics, and you can really feel the audience close to you, because during the last tour I did seven dates, which were very important to me. Knowing that from then on I would be traveling the around the world, I felt the need to start from a reassuring place, to be able to take a real break. Streets of Surrender (S.O.S) was written by Bono: how did this come about? Actually it started in Turin, I was there last year for the U2 concert. I wanted to say hi to my friends, but the moment I got in the dressing room, Bono asked me to close the concert with him by doing a duet. Nothing had been prepared, the concert goers didn’t see me and I spent two hours in the dressing room preparing the song. When the concert was over he asked me how he could repay the favour and I gave him a piece of music without lyrics. Months had passed, and I had thought he had forgotten. But I received a phone call, two days after the Paris attacks. […]
